When in Greece...
I spent a week at a yoga retreat in Corfu this past summer, and it was absolutely beautiful. It was my first time in Greece, and remote places like that feed my soul. Disconnecting from busy city life and phone service go hand in hand for me.
We practiced yoga every morning and most evenings (if nothing else was planned), with free time to explore as we wished. Transportation on the island was limited to cars, bicycles, and walking. Our quaint villa was surrounded by the soothing sounds of crickets and insects, and it boasted its own garden in which we ate all our meals from. I never had Kumquat before, and I highly recommend it.
My desire to learn never ceases; the world is brimming with fascinating aspects, and I feel I've only scratched the surface. Traveling, including my time living in Spain, has broadened my perspective, making me question my values and priorities. It's striking to see the vibrancy of life in places like Corfu and Spain, prompting reflections on work-life balance in the US.
“Your mind will take the shape of what you frequently hold in thought, for the human spirit is colored by such impressions.”
– Marcus Aurelius
All I want now is to fill my life with more colors, perspectives, and vibrancy. Books are wonderful for this, but they don't compare to the full engagement of the five senses, unless you let your imagination soar. Being in the same environment can limit your questioning of the status quo or discovering alternative ways to live. Sometimes, my mind gets trapped in moments of doubt and low spirits, but there are always tools to help break free from those patterns and choose optimism, or what I call the light.
